Why Does Panic! At The Disco Song Titles Have Nothing To Do With The Actual Song Lyrics?

June 25th, 2010 | by admin |

It could be something as simple as it’s just their way of doing things BUT, I just wanted to know what reason they gave for this.

I’m not sure, but maybe if you really analyse the songs and the titles theres a reason. I’ve never found it too interesting though lol

There is no real reason behind it, they just like to make random and creative titles for some of their songs.

i’m gonna guess that they don’t have the brain capacity to make the titles coincide with the lyrics.

It seems like their titles have more to do with the ideas behind the songs than the actual lyrics. Or the titles are more like comments on the songs themselves. Either way, they’re more interesting than titles that are repeated over and over in the chorus.

Because they plagiarize 90% of their song titles from authors and movies.
Half the lyrics on their first album are taken directly from Chuck Palahniuk books. It really chaps my ass and/or pisses me silver.

There’s tons of bands that do that. I don’t know why they do it, maybe they just like being random…

Well, they can put more meaning into a song. There is more than meets the eye. They are a creative band that way. It also makes you think more about (and even identify more) what the lyrics mean.

Because they are trying to cover up the fact that the songs suck with making it look like the song has some hidden meaning that is somehow clever…

They wanted to be different from everyone else. Everyone always had the song title in the actual song or one word titles, and Panic! wanted to be different. Most of the song titles have to do with pop culture, like ‘Lying Is the Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off’ and ‘But It’s Better If You Do’ are a line from the movie ‘Closer’. And in ‘Build God, Then We’ll Talk’ they quote from ‘The Sound of Music. Sorry for ranting, but as you can tell, I’m a huge Panic! fan. :D

Ryan Ross said that most of the songs’ titles were lyrics that he wanted in the song, but just didn’t fit in. He still thought the line was important to he song though, so he put them as the title. Sometimes the titles are quotes from movies or books and then the song is just a storyline behind the quote. Ryan Ross is an INCREDIBLE writer.
